Heading to SQL Saturday #158

Of all the tech communities out there, it’s amazing how involved the SQL Server community is with each other.  With the advent of social media extensions, this tremendous outpouring of support, communication, and collaboration seems to grow almost daily.  Let me go on record by saying how thrilled I am to part of such a diverse and supportive community.

This weekend, I will be joining my fellow SQL Server professionals in an event called SQL Saturday.  This event is coordinated through the efforts of the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) who is one of the largest community driven organizations dedicated to advancing all things SQL Server.  Aside from PASS, many other sponsors and speakers contribute to the success of such a large-scale event.  SQL Saturdays are hosted almost bi-weekly in major metropolitan cities across the US.  Many of the topics range from SQL in the cloud (SQL Azure), advanced data analytics and business intelligence prospects via SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), high-availability and disaster recovery best practices, and a whole lot of performance-based seminars.

SQL Saturday NYC is number 158 and will be denoted by #SQLSat158 on Twitter.  Check out my Twitter feed under this hash-tag as I will be actively tweeting about the event.  Sometime next week I will also post my musings on this event and share any insight I gained (which should be extensive).  Really looking forward to the seminars in big data, best practices, and of course performance tuning!
